About & FAQ
About
The Harvey Mudd Makerspace is an 8,000 sq. ft., student-run facility for providing access to tools, resources, space, and storage to work on personal and academic projects for 7C students, faculty and staff. We are dedicated to making this a space where everyone feels comfortable working on a variety of projects, from electronics to sewing or artistic endeavors. The Makerspace helps Harvey Mudd further its work toward fostering inclusive excellence on campus while also creating new educational and community engagement opportunities for the students and faculty of all 7Cs.
Located on the first floor of the Scott A. McGregor Computer Science Center at the corner of Platt and Dartmouth, the Makerspace is also connected to the Libra Complex just south of the machine and wood shops.
Hours & Stewards
Open 24/7 to 7C students, faculty, and staff, the Makerspace is staffed by student Stewards who are trained to help users with tools and equipment, and to provide assistance with projects. Stewards are on duty from 2-10PM from Monday-Thursday, 2-7PM on Friday and Saturday, and 2-9PM on Sunday. The Makerspace is also home to a variety of workshops and events.
Management Team
The Makerspace is managed by a team of six student Head Stewards, alongside Kim Neal, the Makerspace Manager, and Professor Spencer, the Makerspace Director. The team is responsible for managing the Makerspace, including training Stewards, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the space is safe and accessible to all users.
